Get involved

There are many ways you can help Mokauea Fishermen's Association (MFA) continue its mission to preserve Mokauea Island and the surrounding fishery as a traditional Hawaiian fishing village and maintaining its culture and history. Below are some ways you can get involved.

Projects

There are many ongoing projects whose goals are to restore and maintain Mokauea Island, many of which makes for great community service projects for your organization or group. See what projects can use your help.

Volunteer

MFA is always looking for volunteers from the community to help support its programs and mission. Current opportunities include:
  • Steersmen to paddle canoes for groups who visit Mokauea Island
  • First responders to accompany school groups on visits
  • Professional services for maintenance of structures
Have other unique skills that you would be willing to donate? Please contact us and let us know how you'd like to volunteer.

Make a Donation

MFA can also use your support to fund projects and maintain the island. Your donations will help power short and long-term goals, such as building an interactive experience for visitors to see, touch and learn the cultural significance of a Hawaiian fishing village. Other types of donations needed include canoes, paddles, and building materials. MFA is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit and your donations will be tax-deductible.
